PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION CPD
La Colonie des Pionniers du Développement, CPD en sigle, est un Organisme sans but lucratif, de bienfaisance, d'Éducation à la paix et à la non violence et du Développement. Elle est enregistrée par le Gouvernement de Québec-Canada, sous le numéro d’enregistrement d’entreprise N o 1174721135. C’est un organisme qui a proclamé son adhésion à la déclaration universelle des droits de l’Homme. Notre devise c'est Paix; Solidarité et Développement. Des antennes représentées par des points focaux nationaux et leurs comités sont reconnues et enregistrées par l’administration publique de certains pays de l'Afrique centrale. Ses objectifs visent la paix pour tous, l’appuie à la protection des droits des personnes âgées et autres personnes en difficultés, la promotion du travail, la sensibilisation des jeunes contre les stupéfiants et drogues et l’égalité du genre comme le capital humain pour le développement durable.

OBJECTIVES
C.P.D has the following objectives :

To supervise, educate and train women and young people in difficulty, to ensure a better future for them;

To fight against all kinds of violence and violation of human rights, ignorance, idleness, the use of drugs and narcotics;
-
To support the elderly and other people in need of help by contributing to their social and psychological well-being;
-
To promote and protect the environment for sustainable development;
-
Support and boost local organizations of women and young people who are working on the peace, gender and development.

Advocacy for respect for human rights through the protection and support of victims of conflict and discrimination.

ACTION FIELDS
The field of action of the Colony of the Pioneers of Development is all the territory of Quebec in Canada and abroad where its objectives are justified. In Africa, activities are concentrated in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Support and assist elderly people and immigrants in need of help;

Prevent, combat and fight against armed violence, violence against women;

Raise awareness, train and supervise young people on peace, respect for human rights and against the consumption of narcotics through information and awareness actions;

Advocacy for the implementation of international conventions, protocols and treaties aimed at building and consolidating peace, respect for human and humanitarian rights and sustainable development;

Supervise young people on transversal themes for sustainable development around the French clubs.

Contribute to Prevent, eradicate and fight against violence and the violation of the rights of vulnerable and minority people such as victims of conflicts, LGBTQI +, and the disabled;

Accompany populations in need of assistance with socio-economic development initiatives, by applying a policy of support for agriculture and livestock.
SUPPORTING SENIORS
In the field of support for the elderly, volunteers participated in actions to assist the elderly in their households and those placed in residences, by applying a policy of meeting the needs of staff.
In the area of support for the integration of newcomers to Quebec and assistance to people in difficulty, four newcomers received assistance to obtain rents and find employment;
In the field of education for peace and the fight against violence, focal points have been set up in the field of action of the countries of Central Africa, the Great Lakes, in the DRC, Burundi and Rwanda.
Some unaccompanied sick people were assisted by helpers and support in hospitals in Quebec;
PEACE AND NON-VIOLENCE EDUCATION
The CPD organization carries out information, awareness-raising, lobbying and advocacy actions for peace and human security and against violence in all its forms.
One of the activities on non-violence is the press conference of 07/06/2019 on the worrying security situation in the Central African Great Lakes region. It was organized as part of the global campaign to combat armed violence and human rights violations, taking into account the worrying security situation and the persistence of armed violence in the eastern part of the Democratic Response of the Congo and in the Burundi, unfortunate consequences and impact on the daily life of local civilian populations. Freddy BYAMONYI, Executive Director (CPD East of the DRC) answered journalists' questions by recalling that his organization works to fight this form of violence and supports grassroots communities to apply the principle of peaceful conflict resolution.
TRAINING ON INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNIQUES (TIC) IN BURUNDI
An information and training activity on Modern Communication Techniques was set up and carried out in Bujumbura. This is an awareness-raising activity, training young people and women on sustainable development based on working with computer skills.
As part of this action, young people and women in training are made aware of gender, the role of young people and women in the consolidation of peace, sustainable development, access to the current labor market, IT and the Internet.
SUPERVISION OF YOUTH ON PEACE AND HUMAN SECURITY AND OTHER CROSS-CUTTING THEMES AROUND FRENCH CLUBS
Young people are considered a very important human capital for sustainable development.
The CPD considers that it is necessary for them to have technical and communication skills in French for them to be eligible on the labor market everywhere in the French-speaking world.
It is within this framework that the Colony of Pioneers of Development CPD in collaboration with an Association of educators called Association Tanganyika Force ATF in Burundi have initiated French language clubs which bring together young girls and boys from Bujumbura to impart knowledge and strengthen their skills. capacities and encourage them to master and speak the French language as a tool which will be useful to them in the labor market all over the world constituting the French-speaking space.
As part of the Club du Français activities, awareness-raising debates on the prevention of conflicts and violence in all their forms, on respect for gender and human rights, on drugs and narcotics among young people are developed within the framework of s '' practice and get used to speaking French.
